Bradley th Obituary

In loving memory of Bradley Ronald Van Der Hooft in his 62nd year who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the people he cherished the most by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. Bradley died in the loving arms of his wife and soulmate Nicole Van Der Hooft (nee Pothier). He was the proud father to Danielle and cherished Papa to his "Littles" Maiyah and Mckenzie. Survived by his mother Shirley Hull (late Lloyd Mathews) and his father the late Fred Van Der Hooft, his brothers Mike (Rita), Keith (Avril), Tim and the late Greg, his sisters Susan Francoeur (Dave) and the late Cheryl (late Harold). Special son in law to Georgette Pothier (late Andy). Brother in law to Sylvie Morrison (Jeff) and Robert Pothier (Wendy). Brad leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and an extensive circle of friends whom he considered as family. Brad retired from Falconbridge Nickel Mines in 2005 having served 30 years as a miner. After retirement, Brad followed his passion for automotive, spending countless hours in his garage (appropriately nicknamed "Brad's Doghouse") repairing vehicles with his best friend and partner in crime Mikey Pelland, who stood by his side and supported him throughout his illness. Together they made a perfect team. To all who knew him, Brad was a kind, generous man who would always "give the shirt off his back" to help someone, putting their needs before his own. Until the end, Brad still had his quick wit and endless jokes giving comfort to those around him. Date night to Brad was sitting and enjoying his 9:00 pm Timmie's coffee in his Doghouse with the love of his life Nikki. In keeping with Brad's wishes, there will be no funeral or service. In his honor, please take a moment and reflect on a special memory that you have shared with him. Special Thanks to Dr. Killiam DeBlacam, the 7th floor nursing staff at Health Sciences North and to Tracy Sutherland RN for all your care, concern and compassion during his illness.
