They moved first to London then to Sudbury in 1969 where they both taught at Lockerby Composite School for over 25 years until retirement in the mid 1990’s. Grant (almost always referred to as Mr. Palmer) was a fixture at the top of the iconic LCS staircase, outside classroom #204 where he taught his passion subject history, economics, English, Geography, in addition to spelling, grammar and punctuation, as a former student can attest! His hobbies included reading (mostly history/ military history), music, dancing, canoeing, and the great outdoors. He loved hockey and his time coaching/co-coaching a couple of LCS teams. A memorial service / celebration of life at a future date. Donations can be made, in Grant’s memory to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Northeastern Ontario Geriatric Centre, or any local chapter of The Alzheimer’s Society.
