Anita (Paradis) Van Empel

In loving memory of Anita Van Empel, (née Paradis) 91yrs who passed away at her residence in Sturgeon Falls, on October 11th, 2023 loved and surrounded by her family.  Daughter of the late Lionel and of the late Lina (née Marier).  Beloved wife of the late Mike Van Empel.  Loving mother of Suzanne Yantha (David), Carmen Van Empel (Raymond Swarbrick), and Cindy Van Empel (Tyler Popowich).  Oma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tammy, Dennis, Ian, Christine, James, Ayden, Avery and her great-grandchildren Julia, Alexander, and William.  Dear sister of Claire Paradis.  Predeceased by her brothers Herve (late Lucienne) and Donald (late Gisèle). Held dear by her extended family overseas and her sister-in-law Bertha Van den Elzen of Azilda.   Anita was an incredibly hard worker and successful entrepreneur up to her retirement at 62 years of age.  Gifted in many ways, an exceptional baker, best known for her butter tarts, jelly roll, date squares and numerous other tasty treats. She was an avid knitter and loved to crochet, she always had projects on the go, most of which were donated to church functions or the NICU at the hospital for premature babies, she absolutely adored babies. Oma was often called to prayer to help the sick or distraught, she was a woman of great faith. She also loved serving her parish by contributing to functions in any way she could.  Mom’s passing leaves a great void in our hearts but we find solace knowing she’s reunited with our father and undoubtedly, they are sharing a dance together.  A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Sturgeon Falls on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.  Funeral arrangements in care of the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Sorrows Church would be greatly appreciated.
