Armand E. Gervais

C’est avec un profond chagrin que la famille Gervais annonce le décès de monsieur Armand E. Gervais, survenu le vendredi 31 janvier 2020 à Sudbury, à l’âge de 82 ans. Fils de feu Camille Gervais et de feu Laurencia Brabant. Époux de Rachel Gervais (née Laframboise) (Luise). Père bien-aimé de Sylvie Gervais-Leduc (Raymond), Michel (David) et de feu Alain (Pauline). Grand- père de Justien, Vincent et Alexandre. Lui survivent également ses frères Gérald (Lucille), Rolland (Sue) et Jean-Paul (Micheline). Prédécédé par ses deux sœurs Rita Lefebvre (feu Roger) et Simonne Bertrand (feu Conrad). Armand a dédié sa vie à l’enseignement du français, à la promotion de la francophonie et des arts et à la chose la plus précieuse, sa famille. Gradué du Collège du Sacré Cœur, ou il a débuté sa carrière d’enseignant en 1961. Il a ensuite œuvré auprès des écoles publiques de Parry Sound, Levack et Copper Cliff comme professeur de français pour ensuite retourner a ses sources francophones en enseignant à Franco-Jeunesse et à l’École Secondaire McDonald Cartier ou il a terminé sa carrière d’enseignant. Une de ses plus grande joie était la musique et le chant. Armand participa activement à la Chorale du Centenaire et la Chorale des Muguets dont il était très fier. Il participa aussi à la chorale de l’église Ste. Anne des Pins et dirigea la chorale de Noël à l’église de l’Annonciation. Dans les années ‘80 il a été membre du comité du Théâtre du Nouvel Ontario. La famille tient à remercier le personnel de St. Joseph’s Villa, secteur Gardenway et Sunnyside, où il a habité pendant 10 ans, pour leur grand dévouement et affection pour Armand ainsi qu’à toute la famille lors de sa dernière semaine. Nous devons remercier très particulièrement Anna des services «Caring for Loved Ones ». Rachel et les enfants sont à préparer la célébration de sa vie qui sera annoncée à une date ultérieure. It is with great sadness that the Gervais family announces the death of mister Armand E. Gervais on Friday, January 31st 2020, at the age of 82 years. Son of the late Camille Gervais and of the late Laurencia Brabant. Husband of Rachel Gervais (née Laframboise) (Luise). Beloved father of Sylvie Gervais-Leduc (Raymond), Michel (David) and of the late Alain (Pauline). Grandfather of Justien, Vincent and Alexandre. Survived by his siblings Gérald (Lucille), Rolland (Sue) and Jean-Paul (Micheline). Predeceased by his sisters Rita Lefebvre (late Roger) and Simonne Bertrand (late Conrad). Armand dedicated his life to teaching French, promoting the Francophone Community, the arts and most importantly, his family. A Graduate of Collège du Sacré Coeur, he began his career there as a teacher in 1961. He then worked as a French teacher for the Public School Boards in Parry Sound, Levack and Copper Cliff. He would later return to his francophone roots as a teacher at Franco-Jeunesse and Macdonald Cartier Secondary Schools where he would eventually retire. Armand was passionate about music and singing. He was a proud and active member of the Chorale du Centenaire and La Chorale des Muguets.  He also participated in the choir at Ste. Anne des Pins Church and was choirmaster for the Christmas Mass at Paroisse de L’ Annonciation . In the 80’s he was a member of the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario board of directors. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their dedication and affection towards Armand and his family during his final week, especially the staff at Gardenway and Sunnyside sectors where he resided for 10 years. A very special thanks goes out to Anna of Caring for Loved Ones. Rachel and the children are planning the celebration of life that will be announced at a later date.
