Arnold Haapala (1940 – 2025)

It is with great sadness that the family of Arnold Haapala announces his passing in Blind River, Sunday November 2, 2025, at the age of 85 years. Son of the late Arne Haapala and the late Taimi Haapala (née Johnson). Beloved husband of Maureen Haapala (née Gates). Sadly missed by his son Peter Haapala (Denise), Alice Ridley (Brent). Loving and fun Papa to Cindy, Kyle, Laura, Colleen, Connie, and his great grandchildren. Dear brother of Eila Myllymaki, Harold Haapala (Bev) and Ethel Haapala. Predeceased by his brother Eino Myllymaki (late Judy).

Arnold was born and raised in Sudbury, where he spent his childhood at his grandparents Karlee Edvard and Lovisa Johnson’s country home surrounded by the beauty of nature. The trees, water ponds, fields of grass, rocks, the hillside and little animals gave him a wonderful playground. Those were the beginnings of a man who grew up to spend some of his most enjoyable and thankful times with nature’s gifts.

He will be truly missed by family and friends. The memory of his welcoming smile will remain with us always.
