Arthur Joseph Adams – April 1, 1947 to July 15, 2021
Arthur was born a registered April Fool to James Adams and Rita Sayyeas, living up to it throughout his life from the mischievousness of a boy who would prank his neighbours to the teasing uncle who loved to hear his nieces and nephews squeal in laughter and cared for by his grandmother Bernice Sayyeas. He left school at a young age and took up a trade, working construction and travelling across provinces to find work.
He found stability in Gisèle Adams (née Gervais), the love of his life and mother to their daughter Jaime Adams. The three became a team, facing everything life threw at them. He was a lifelong learner, earning his Cambrian College Diploma in Social Service Work and using his skills to serve his community. He was most proud of having been elected Business Manager of L.I.U.N.A. Local 493, where he spent over a decade standing up for workers' rights.
He died at the age of 74 in Sudbury. Survived by his wife Gisèle and daughter Jaime, his siblings Dora, Karen, and Vern, and many beloved nieces and nephews. People are invited to honour him with a donation to the Northern Cancer Foundation (705-523-4673) in his name. Cremation services entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
