Austin Larochelle

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful, brave boy, Austin Troy Rick Larochelle. Austin was born August 20, 2001 and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on November 8, 2023 after a battle with Lymphoma Cancer and Pneumonia complications. Mackayla would like to thank the medical staff at Health Science North, that looked after Austin.

Austin was fiercely loved by his sister, Mackayla Gravelle, who was his primary caregiver. She made it her life’s focus to

look after him from a very young age. Austin was loved by his parents Sylvia Bell and Les Drayer. Austin’s other siblings Christina, Lucas, Alex, and Dawn will miss him dearly. He will remain the brightest light in their lives as he lives now in their hearts.

Austin attended Widdifield and West Ferris Secondary Schools in North Bay, and Lasalle Secondary School in Sudbury. There are many teachers that taught and loved Austin. A huge thank you to his teacher Michelle Graham for all of her help, love and counsel throughout Austins life. Many friends and neighbours of Mackayla and Austin were quick to rally around to help during this crucial time.

Austin was an active member of community in L’Arche Sudbury and had respite at Jericho House. He attended Focus On Abilities Day Program. Austin attended Camp Kennebec during March Break and Summer Camps where he took pleasure in all that was offered and learned how to fish. We thank the staff of these programs for all of the care and help they gave to Austin.  Austin relished in helping his family and neighbours with yard work in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter.

With the help of Community Volunteers and Programs, Austin loved learning how to ski, playing hockey with the North Bay North Stars. Austin was a big fan of sports. Austin loved attending hockey games to watch the North Bay Battalions, and the Sudbury Wolves. He enjoyed road trips and adventuring with his sister to go see to the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Toronto Maple Leafs

Austin made an instant impact on everyone who met him. As he left this world, Austin was surrounded with the love by all who knew him. Our sweet boy, you are loved immeasurably.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
