It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Ann (Martin) Maki, on June 23, 2026.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Richard, the love of her life. She was also predeceased by her parents, Grace and William (Bill) Martin, her brothers Angus, Ronnie, Allan, and Billy, and her sister Elsie.
She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Maxine, Marion, Gracie and her brothers Buster and Milton (Donna).
Barbara was a devoted mother, nana, and a true friend to many. She found joy in baking and decorating cakes, and she had a creative spirit that showed in the many projects she took on over the years. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family and friends, creating memories that will be held close forever.
She faced life with quiet strength and determination, persevering through years of pain after being diagnosed with MS at a young age. Her resilience was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
Our family would like to thank all those who visited her and remained part of her life over the years—those connections meant so much to her.
She will be deeply missed by her son, John (Gisele); her daughters, Lisa Smith (Steve) and Karen Prosperi (Anthony); and her cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin, Christopher, Mia, Jillian, Jack, and Spencer, who brought her so much pride and happiness.
Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her caring heart, and her beautiful, warm smile. She truly treasured the lifelong friendships she held, and the many special moments shared along the way.
As per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no service.
