Barry commenced his career for Sudbury Regional Police in March 1970 until April 2001. He was proud and thoroughly enjoyed his career and retired as a Staff Sergent. Barry was an avid Blue Jay baseball fan since 1977. He served in numerous positions in Lionism including being District Governor in 2003-2004. He served in different positions for the Sudbury Police Pensioners Association and served as a board member for House of Kin and Sudbury Community Solution Team.
Barry thoroughly enjoyed being a winter Texan, especially when he MC and played in the Rock & Roll jams singing Elvis Presley songs and many others.
He also enjoyed travelling and fishing. Barry was born and raised in Pickering, Ontario. Life partner and soulmate to Irene Gauthier-Brett. Son of the late Edward and Marion (Hall) Brett of Pickering, Ontario.
