With great sadness, the family of Bernard “Douglas” Hogan announce his peaceful passing in Sudbury on Wednesday November 19, 2025, at the age of 97 years.
Born in Arnprior, Ontario, on February 14, 1928, Doug was the son of the late Leo and Emma Hogan (Burnette). Beloved husband of Minerva Hogan (Jakku) for over 76 years. Cherished father of three daughters, Vicki Hogan (Barry Lafrance), Sharon Hogan and Shelley (Binotto) Levesque (Denis), and three grandsons, Leigh Faubert (Angie), Barry Faubert (Michelle) and Jordan Binotto (Jenn Hebert). He was blessed with great-grandchildren Tianna Faubert (John Carlesso), Ethan and Amber Faubert, Nova and Chanel Faubert and Jolie Binotto, and four great-great-grandchildren Isabella, Franco, Crawford and Daria. Doug also had many nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by his five sisters Myrtle Price (Bill), Rita Manion (Seldy), Dorcas Kobus (Austin), Edythe McDougall (Garney), Audrey McCullough (Ellery) and his sons- in-law Peter Binotto and Wayne Rowlandson.
Doug had a long and rewarding career with Ontario Hydro as a lineman and then Area Foreman for the Northeast Region, retiring after 36 years of service. Doug and Min spent many happy years at Kukagami Lake. They curled, golfed and went fishing in earlier years, and he loved playing cards, singing country music and reading. As a proud Ottawa Valley boy, many visits were made back home to visit family and life-long friends. For 29 years, they wintered in Florida, where they made many good friends over the years, with special mention to Arnie and Penny Keskinen. Dad loved being with family and enjoyed telling stories to all of us! He was deeply loved by his family and will be remembered for his quick wit, big smile, and sense of humor.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Pioneer Manor for their loving care.
Thank you for keeping the lights on! We love you, Dad.
As per Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
