The Martin Family is heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Bernie Martin at his home in the arms of his loving wife Marilyn, on May 28, 2025. Bernie was born in Sudbury on April 3, 1951 to Claire (Perreault) and Henri Martin both pre deceased. Brother to Jeanette (Andre) both predeceased, Rolande, predeceased (Charlie), Paulette (Jean-Guy) both predeceased and Jaqueline. He was also an amazing Mon Oncle / Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Hallows Martin. He was adored by his son's Adam, Dave (Karen) and Daughter, Tiffany. He was the cherished Pepere to Anthony and Tiana.
Bernie's dance card was always full. Being the youngest of four sisters he learned to be an amazing dancer and would dance the night away at every event he attended. He marched with the Imperial Knights Drum and Bugle Corps playing the French horn for over 20 years. He also loved the outdoors and would bring the family on many camping trips. He was also a very big sports enthusiast maybe the Montreal Canadians will do better with him cheering from above...
His love of reading and playing cards got him through his later years when Muscular Dystrophy took away his ability to enjoy the physical pleasures of life.
Bernie worked at the Sudbury Jail for over twenty-five years as a respected Correctional Officer until his disability made it impossible to continue.
The Martin Family would like to thank the staff at Canadian Shield and the many PSW's that have helped Bernie over the years. Their kindness and care never went unnoticed.
