Blair Earl Brydges (March 14, 1944 - February 26, 2025)
"A life well-lived is a beautiful legacy."
With love in our hearts and tears in our eyes we announce the peaceful passing of Blair on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in his 81st year.
Loving husband of 60 years to Lynda Brydges (née McCandless). Wonderful and amazing Father of his daughters, Cheryl, Carrie (Ted), Laura Lea (Maurice), Shawna (Ted), and Kelli (Jamie). Proud Papa of his 14 grand-children Carissa, Ashley, Trevor, Vanessa, Colin, Brooke, Trent (predeceased), Bailey, Randi, Rowan, Drake, Michaela, Hudson, Elliott, as well as his seven great-grandchildren Danika, Mallery, Ryleigh, Finn, Kohyn, Jensen, and Parker.
Born in Almonte, Ontario, as the third of 10 children to the late Orville and Gladys Brydges (née Lancaster). Dear brother of Beverly (Joe) (both predeceased), Clarence (predeceased) (Marian), Bruce (predeceased) (Willie), Harold (predeceased) (Lucille), Stephen (Maryann), Joan (Kevin), Roy (Debbie), Heather (Basil) and Darrell, and missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Blair and Lynda knew they were soulmates at a young age, married in 1965 they shared a wonderful 60 years together. They took on life as one, lovingly raising their five daughters.
A perfect day for Blair was spent out in the bush, maintaining his trapline then coming home to family, a cold beer, and a hot fire in his garage. An impressive MacGyver, able to build or fix anything. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but one of his greatest passions was trapping. He proudly maintained his trapline for over five decades. He worked for Falconbridge Nickel mines for 30 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement, he continued enjoying his favourite activities, spreading his knowledge and love to all those around him. Those who knew Blair described him as kind and tough, fearless and adventurous. Always sporting plaid he was a larger-than-life man and a loving husband, father, papa, and great-grandfather.
He will always be remembered for his two-finger salute and his ability to take things one day at a time.
To honour his wishes, there will be no funeral service and a private family gathering to honour his life will be held at a later date.
A special thank you to his medical team for their compassion and care.
A special thank you is extended to Maison McCulloch Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Blair and for the support of our community as a whole during our most heartbreaking times.
Donations can be made in Blair’s name to Maison McCulloch Hospice.
Remember me in your heart;
Your thoughts, your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me,
I will never have gone. (Margaret Meade)
