Rapsky, Charlie
November 11, 1929 – March 17, 2021
In memory of Charlie Rapsky, born at Creighton Mine Nov. 11, 1929 who passed away peacefully with his wife Shirley at his side in Sudbury. Beloved father of Matt (Tamra) of Manitoba and Andrew of North Carolina. Grandfather of Wyatt and Hailey Rose of Manitoba, Hayden and Tristan of North Carolina. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Anne and sister Marilyn of Sudbury.
Painting was his lifetime work, his success as an artist was well known. Charlie’s art exhibitions started in the 1980’s and were very successful. He was grateful to the people who supported him and, he in return, gave paintings to various charities and events to raise funds. Being a sportsman through life, Charlie loved hockey and football. Flying was a great part of travel for this Artist who flew to the Artic yearly, painting Inuit life as he saw it. Charlie spent decades enjoyably with family and friends at the family fly-in camp at Burwash Lake. He was a man that could be described as a combination of Artist, Painter, Flyer, Sportsman, and passionate student of all of life’s diversity. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation will be at Simple Wishes of the North and internment at the family plot in Civic Cemetery, Sudbury. A celebration of life for the family and friends, to share memories of a man who took all that life offered with zest and enjoyment, will be announced later.
