Claire D'Aoust Obituary

D’Aoust Claire (Beaudry) (1943-2024)

It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, at the age of 80 years old.  Daughter of the late Edmond Beaudry and the late Irene (née Philion) Beaudry of Sturgeon Falls.  Loving wife of Richard D’Aoust.  They were in love for over 64 years.  She will be greatly missed by him is “Angel”.  Dear mother of Denise D’Aoust (Ted) of Perth and Diane D’Aoust-Simonds (Rodney) of Sudbury.  Sadly, missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Emily (Tristan) of Levack and Corey (Carley) from Chelmsford as well as by her great-grandchild Radley and godchildren Patty Tessier-Kerr and Barry Restoule(predeceased).  Sister-in-law to Jacques D’Aoust of Sturgeon Falls (predeceased).  The first born of a family of 13 children, Claire is survived by brother Rhéal Beaudry, and sisters Simone Lewis, Pauline Beaudry Doki's, Denise Restoule, Lorraine Beaudry Pitte, Jeannine Petersen, Therèse Beaudry, Hélène Beaudry, Lucille Beaudry, Rachel McKerral, Ginette Gagnon and brother Laurent Beaudry (predeceased). Survived by many nieces and nephews.  Claire lived on her parents' farm and worked odd jobs till she was married and moved to Sudbury, taking on jobs selling on the road till they built their house in Richard Lake where she remained most of her life.  She was a devoted mother and wife who always looked forward to the return of her family members no matter how far or how long they were gone.  She received a lifetime honorary membership from the Fish and Game Club of Sudbury in recognition of all her years of looking after the pickerel hatchery that was located at their home for many years.  She was an active member of her local St. Mathieu parish in MacFarlane Lake where she volunteered as Secretary for many years and participated in many fundraiser activities.  She enjoyed being involved in her community.  In later life, Claire liked to sit outside and look for the local seagull “Jonathan” and their adopted crow that visited the deck frequently where she sat outside catching the warming rays of sunshine and admiring the beauty of the water and her garden.  She enjoyed pulling out her skillet and making a warming meal for anyone who stopped by.  It was always “Open Doors” at her home in Richard Lake for anyone.  Her funny side will be missed by many people and her nickname Claire the Bear will live on with the people who knew her.  The family wish to thank all the staff at Health Sciences North Intensive Care Unit and 5 South for all the dedicated care given to Claire while she was in hospital.

To honor her final request, there will be no visitation or service.  Donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
