It is with great sadness that the family announces the loss of Clara Jean Turner (nee Hawkins) on October 6th, 2020 at the age of 99 years.
Predeceased by her parents Almon and Lucy Hawkins. Predeceased by her son Walter Almon Turner (Margaret), and friend Andrew Bateman. Wife of John Steven Turner (predeceased).
Grandmother to Lana Blanchette (nee Turner) (Brian) Steven Turner (Joanne Jensen), Catherine Charron (Marcel), and Richard Turner. Great grandmother to Jessica and Zach Hase, John Ryan Turner (predeceased), Amanda Carruthers, Zachary and Alyssa Charron.
Great, great grandmother to Sydney, Domenico and Samuel.
She is survived by her brother Arnold Hawkins. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters, John, Dolf, Mary, Garnet, Bea, Glenna, Harry, Garland and Tommy. Clara will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Clara was born in Beaver Harbour, New Brunswick in 1921. She worked in a sardine factory in Beaver Harbour. She moved to Copper Cliff with her husband John in 1948, approx. Clara worked as a butcher in various places in Sudbury until she retired.
Clara’s favourite hobby was taking care of her cat, Babe. She loved to do crossword puzzles, cooking for the family, baking, going to the legion and dancing. There will be no funeral as per her request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society world be appreciated by the family.
