Corrine Courchesne Obituary

Corrine Courchesne (née Melanson)

August 16, 1936 – February 5, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Corrine Courchesne (née Melanson), a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Born on August 16, 1936, in Gogama, Corrine was the cherished daughter of Camille and Delina Melanson (née Giroux). She was the beloved wife of Fernand “Fern” Courchesne, who predeceased her, and together they built a life rooted in family, care, and deep connection.

Corrine was a devoted mother to Nicole, Daniel, Claude (predeceased), and Patrick (Lorna). She took immense pride and joy in her role as grandmother to Jessica, Kimberly, Stephanie, Roch, Christine (Jordan), Andree (Jordan), Joey Roy, Kevin, and Krystal, and as great-grandmother to Jeffrey, Forrest, Kloe, Jayden, Jake, Login, Judas, Journee, Jobe, Jupiter, Juliette, Danaka, and Ryley. Her family was her world, and she gave them her heart completely.

She is lovingly remembered as the sister of Aurel (predeceased), Edgar (Cécile), Cyrille (Irene, predeceased), Imelda Brunette (Elie, both predeceased), Yvette Payette (Marcel) both predeceased, Cécile (Richard, both predeceased), Yvonne Rochette (Gaston, predeceased), Marcel (predeceased) (Lea), and Rochelle (Mike) O’Flaherty. She was also a dear sister-in-law to George (Pauline, both predeceased), Rhéa (Ronald, predeceased), Aline (Alfred, predeceased), Colette (Maurice), and Leo (Réjeanne, both predeceased).

Corrine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose attentiveness and gentle presence made everyone around her feel seen and cherished. She had a caring smile that could warm any heart and comforting hugs that made the world feel safe again. In her younger years, she loved to travel and embraced life with curiosity and joy, creating memories that would be treasured forever. She will be remembered always for her kind spirit, generous heart, and deep love of life. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff and PSWs at Findlandia Village Koivu, where Corrine spent the last six years of her life. Your devoted care, compassion, and support brought comfort not only to Corrine, but to her family during a very difficult journey, and it will never be forgotten.

In respecting Corrine’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A funeral Mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Corrine’s memory may be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sudbury, in honor of her life and the strength she carried with grace.

She will be loved always, remembered forever, and missed beyond words.

Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
