It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Craig M. Thompson on October 26th 2025, after a long battle of sickness at the age of 63. Craig is survived by his loving wife Rachel (nee Blanchard) of 28 years. Craig will be lovingly remembered by his children Amber Lynn Thompson (Maxwell), Grayson Thompson (Savannah), McKenna Thompson and his first and only granddaughter Lennon, who in his words is “one of a kind!” He is the son of Harry and Edith Thompson both predeceased. Missed by his sister Carol Waschulzick (Kari). Dear son-in-law of Earl and Margaret Blanchard (nee Volkes). He will be deeply missed by his best four legged partner in crime Maisie, who never turned down a chance to lay her 75lb body on her dad while they shared snacks. He will also be missed by his nephews, extended family, and friends.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he was a faithful servant of God and devoted many hours to his ministry, and even in his last year living at St. Gabriel’s Villa he was always eager to share his hope for the future with others there. Anyone that knew Craig would describe him as a social butterfly and a huge people person. He enjoyed making others laugh and telling stories to anyone with a listening eat. Craig worked for 20+ years in long term care helping others and treating his residents like family. Craig loved to dance and groove to any good bet and was even doing so up to his last days.
The family wants to deeply thank the team at St. Gabriel’s Villa for taking excellent care of Craig in his last year of life. Especially his PSW Cindy who went above and beyond to keep a close eye on him and like Craig, treated not only him but his family like her own.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Watchtower Society (donate.jw.org) or the Canadian Sarcoidosis Organization (engage.ucalgary.ca/sarcoidosis) would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7th at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 3400 Regional Road 55 W Lively, ON.
