McNicol, Deborah Dale (1947-2023)

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Deborah (Debi) Dale McNicol (nee Birrell), on March 13th 2023, at the age of 75. Daughter of the late Cecil and the late Ethel Birrell. Loving wife and soulmate of 50 years to Jim McNicol. Cherished mother to Shannon and Ryan (predeceased). Beloved Nana to Ty, Owen, and Hayley. Dear sister to Larry Birrell (Eldra, predeceased) and Bruce Ward (Madeleine). She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews.

Jim and Debi started their love affair on June 7th 1971, on the beaches after Jim fell out of a tree trying to get Debi's attention. Less than a year later, they were married on April 1st 1972. They were the definition of true love. The banter, jokes and laughs over the years showed that marriage works when you put your whole heart into it.

Debi was an avid golfer and a member of the Chelmsford Golf Course. You would find her (and Jim) there 5-6 days a week from the time the course opened in the spring to when it closed in the fall. In the winter months, you would find her at the arenas cheering on her grandsons, playing cards with the Valley East Seniors' club, or bowling at Chico's Bowling alley. She was a huge Tom Brady fan and followed him from New England to Tampa Bay.

We want to thank all the Nurses, PSW's and staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice, for everything you did for Debi. Treating her with respect and dignity, in her time there. Thank you, we appreciate all of you.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chelmsford Golf Course on April 22nd 2023, from 1pm to 4pm. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of The North, Sudbury.
