Denis Morin (1948 – 2025)
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Den on Saturday, November 22, at Maison McCulloch Hospice. During his last days, those who meant the most to him were by his side. Den bravely stayed with us until the family arrived to celebrate his 77th birthday. He knew how loved he was, as we came together as one to show him how much he meant to us.
Den was the husband and soulmate of Debra Morin and a caring father and stepfather to Stacey Bridge (Paul), Jamie Morin (Jill), Jessica Young, Kyle Young (Samantha), Jeffrey Young, and Braden Young (Christina). He was also a special Papa to Jordan Bridge (Samantha), Erin Bridge (Keegan), Tristan Morin, Audrey Morin, Jacob Young, Benjamin Young, Darcie and Wade.
Den was the son of Rosario and Berthe Morin (predeceased) and a loving brother to Gerry Morin (Shirley), Annette Leon (Ken predeceased), Leo Morin (Pauline), Ray Morin (Jane), Noella Fitchett (Len predeceased), and Rheal Morin (Matthew). He was predeceased by his brothers Robert Morin (Roberte) and Johnny Morin. Den was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Denis worked at Inco for 30 years, was a union steward and served on the safety committee. He retired at age 50 after undergoing two back-to-back heart valve replacements. In his retirement, he continued to rise early to meet his buds at Timmy’s, where they solved all the world's problems. He loved to hunt and fish, finding serenity at his hunt camp on Manitoulin Island. Den was always ready to lend a hand, whether to family or strangers, and was known for his hard work, particularly in helping many with home renovations.
As our family grew with grandchildren, Den was an involved Papa who created many cherished memories through trips, sleepovers, and adventures, fostering a strong bond among the cousins.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ray Morin for his constant support and help. To Stacey, Jessica, Kyle, Jeffrey, and Braden, thank you for being by my side. To the grands, who bravely stood by their Papa, Den felt the love from those who loved him best.
We are deeply grateful to our many care teams. Our family doctor, Dr. Terada, the hospital doctors, Dr. Larose and Dr. DeMarco. A special thanks to the hospice doctors, Dr. Nykilchyk, and Dr. Langille, as well as the nurses and PSWs. The Hospice staff and volunteers greeted us warmly, and their compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. To the teams at the Geriatric Centre and Ontario Health at Home, Melissa Battah, Michael, Natalia and Chanelle, your support while Den was still at home, always gave us peace of mind.
We will welcome family and friends to celebrate all that Den was to us on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at 1 pm at Kinsmen Hall, Lively, ON.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice.
