St. Aubin, Denis Alexandre (1950 – 2025)
The world became a little less bright on August 9, 2025, with the passing of our beloved husband, father, Pépé and friend Denis Alexandre St. Aubin. Born on August 23, 1950, in Sudbury, Ontario, Denis lived each day to the fullest, bringing joy, laughter and light to everyone around him. He was truly a kid at heart.
Denis was a devoted husband to the love of his life and best friend, Emilia (née Marassato) for 54 beautiful years. He was a loving father to Stephan (Analiese) and Jamie Ricci (Robert) and a proud Pépé to his three grandchildren Ryan, Ava, and Mya who were the light of his life.
He was the cherished son of the late Rhéal and Marthe Elise St. Aubin and a loving brother to the late Estelle Lemieux (late Marcel), Denise Lapierre (late Albert), Marilyne Laronde, Rachelle Barazzuol (Blain) and Jean-Guy (Holly). Denis was also a dear brother-in-law to Bruno Marassato (Joanne) and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Denis grew up in Minnow Lake and later moved to Lively where he and Emilia raised their family for over 50 years. He worked for Vale (Inco) for 33 years as a machinist, known for his meticulous work ethic and unwavering commitment to perfection. That same pride extended to his beautifully maintained home, gleaming vehicles, and his legendary love of Christmas lights. A self-taught craftsman, Denis built both the family home and cottage where countless cherished memories were made. He found great joy in helping his children with their own home projects and later used his talents to create beautiful keepsakes for his grandchildren. His love of sports was unmatched. A talented hockey player from a young age, Denis remained active well into adulthood and was the #1 fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He was also an avid skier, teaching Emilia and the kids early on and taking them on yearly family ski trips through Vermont and Maine. Denis was a passionate cyclist throughout his life—determined, tireless, and always up for a challenge. After retirement, he spent countless hours at GoodLife Fitness, working out and socializing, always making new friends. A true social butterfly, Denis was rarely alone—except, perhaps, when out picking blueberries.
For over 40 years, Denis found peace and joy at his family cottage on Lake Penage. Here he enjoyed fishing dates with Emilia, campfires with the Barazzuol family and summers filled with laughter and friendships. Denis loved Trans-Atlantic cruises and shared decades of travel adventures with Emilia exploring the world together.
Above all, Denis’ greatest pride was his family. He dedicated his life to creating a loving and supportive home. His stories, sayings, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He lived fully, laughed freely and loved deeply. His light will live on in our hearts forever.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their care during Denis’ final weeks.
