Howard, Diana (née Rouleau) (1931 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Diana Howard (née Rouleau), who died peacefully on August 12, just two months shy of her 94th birthday. She was married to the love of her life, Norm (predeceased) for nearly 70 years. Together, they raised three children: Dan (Sheila), Nicole, and Lianne. She was a fun and hands-on grandmother to Drew, Megan, Hannah, and Logan. Diana was the devoted daughter of Alvarez and Demerise Rouleau and a cherished sister to Anne, Leonie, Raymond, JP, and Maurice (all predeceased).
Diana spent her professional career as a travel agent, beginning with Air Canada, the Vacation Shoppe and later with CAA travel. She loved helping people plan their dream holidays and took pride in every detail. Like her husband, Diana was happiest when active. She was an avid swimmer, tennis player, and skater. A voracious reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, she preferred a quiet evening with a good book to a crowded room, yet she relished lively political debates with anyone brave enough to take her on. She treasured time with her sisters, laughing and “solving the world’s problems.” A child of the Depression, Diana was pragmatic, fiercely loyal, and had an uncanny knack for finding solutions. She was dependable, strong, and lived life entirely on her own terms. Her happy place was always among her family, with a book close at hand. We would also like to give a special thank you to our sister Lianne, who was her main caregiver in these last few years. Mom’s dream was to live out her life in the house she and our dad built together in 1958, and it was only because of Lianne’s selfless dedication that she was able to do so. It was not always an easy role, but she carried it with love, grace, and unwavering commitment. Mom was never one to sit idle. She always liked to be busy working or tackling the next project, and often said, “There will be plenty of time for rest when I’m dead.” Mom, you lived such a big life but now it’s your time to rest. We know you’ll be in good company.
As per our mother’s wishes, no services are planned.
