Doris Morissette (1933 - 2026)
Doris Morissette (née Jones) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on February 3rd, 2026 with her family by her side.
Doris was the beloved wife of Charlie Morissette, owner of Charlie’s Trucking, predeceased in 2013. She was a loving and devoted mother to Christine Morissette (Dan), and a cherished grandmother to Ashley Widder (Adam), Tiffany Lalonde, and Ryan Rewega. Doris was a proud great-grandmother to Arianna, Alivia, Arya, Miller, and Theo, who always brought a smile to her face.
Born and raised in Creighton, Doris was predeceased by her parents, Jane and Larry Jones. As the oldest daughter in a family of nine, she took on the responsibility of caring for her younger brothers and sisters from a young age, leaving school early to help raise her family. This early dedication shaped her strong will, resilience, and deep sense of responsibility.
Doris was predeceased by her brothers Tommy, Lawrence, Leo, and Lefty, and is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Kenneth Jones, Richard Jones, Ruth Yakichuk, and Francis Dutrisac.
A devoted Catholic, Doris was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary and a faithful parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish in Creighton. Her faith guided the way she cared for her family and community, and she was always ready to offer support, guidance, and a helping hand to those closest to her.
Later in life, Doris entered the workforce and became known for her determination and strong work ethic. A die-hard cleaner, she could make any space spotless - her floors were famously clean. She also loved preparing hearty, homemade meals, with her cabbage rolls and perogies being family favourites.
Doris had a passion for fashion and took great pride in her appearance. A true fashion diva, she loved shopping, getting her hair done, and never went anywhere without looking her best - red lipstick always in place. Even in her last days, she maintained her youthful skin.
Her hobbies included watching The Young and the Restless, replaying Home Alone, going for walks, and enjoying trips to the casino. Most of all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.
Doris touched many lives and was well known in her community. Her strength, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their care and compassion throughout her time there and especially during her final days.
There will be no visitation or service at this time. Details of burial to follow.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
