In loving memory of Edgard L. Coles, who passed away suddenly on May 14th, 2026, in Sudbury, at the age of 90 years.
Ed began his Masonic journey on January 13, 1975, when he was initiated as an Entered Apprentice in the St. John’s Lodge No. 27, New Brunswick. He was passed to the Fellow Craft Degree on March 22, 1975, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on September 8, 1975. In recognition to his Blue Lodge work and his outstanding service, Ed was conferred the 33rd Degree in Scottish Rite Freemasonry, counting his journey into masonic teaching and fellowship for over 50 years.
Ed was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, quiet strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially tending to his beautiful gardens and caring for his many plants, which reflected the patience and care he showed to those around him.
Beloved father of Jim Coles (Genisa), Vivian Walsh (Brian), Jeannine Porter, Misty Coles (Shane), Carolynn Duncan (Kevin), and Penny Duncan. Cherished grandfather of Fausto, Christopher, Patrick, Derek, Kirian, Malcom, Aoifc, Lauren, Kiera, Daxon, Dominic, Ronin, Ashley (Joe), Timothy (Brittany) and Patience (Jordan). Proud great-grandfather of Poppy and Ellie.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Maria. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his faithful grand-furbaby, Keno, who was always by his side.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to nurse Betty with Bayshore for her compassion, kindness, and exceptional care shown to Ed and his family.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Edgard’s love, warmth, and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Donations to the Masonic Lodge and/or SPCA Sudbury would be appreciated.
A private family service was held.
Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
