It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom / Memere on December 3, 2024, at the age of 87 years.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Monique (Ron), Marc (Laurie), Lise (Georges), Gisele (JP), Gaetan (Cheryl), Carole (Gerry), Michel (Margie), Rollande (Denis) and her daughter-in-law Donna. She will be sadly missed by 20 cherished grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Eleonore is predeceased by her loving husband Roland who she never stopped missing, as well as her son Denis and grandson Devin. She was born in 1937 to Isidore and Marie Bedard. She is survived by all of her siblings, Jeanette Brosseau, Leon Bedard (Jeanine), Alice Blais (Maurice), Ron Bedard, Jackie Lacombe (John) and Diane Chafer (Dennis). Eleonore will also be sadly missed by her husband’s family, Leonard, Lucille, Maurice, Claudette and Raymonde. She will be fondly remembered as a favourite “Matante” by many nieces and nephews.
Eleonore’s house was a favourite gathering spot for all of us. On any day of the week, at any time of day, loved ones of all ages would gather to have coffee, share laughs and stories, participate in a game of cards or a meal. Grandchildren particularly loved to visit from the time they were born as Memere adored her “little kids” - a baby felt so comfortable in her arms. In her younger years her “magic cooking pot” always provided enough food for as many kids as could fit around her table. There was always enough room for everyone in her tiny home. Her good friends Emma Lepage and June Foley will surely miss their frequent visits. Her daughters will miss their casino trips. We will all miss her love, her “honest to a fault” opinions on any and all topics, and her sense of humour. There was always laughter at Memere’s.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday December 15 at the Wahnapitae Community Centre. Friends and relatives are invited to join us from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Prayers and presentations will take place at 2:00.In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate any donations in Eleonore’s memory be made to the Northeast Cancer Centre or Maison McCulloch Hospice.
