Ernie Wehrberger passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 In Sudbury at the age of 86. Ernie was born in Germany and brought his love of horses to Canada. After retiring from
Inco, Ernie had the pleasure of meeting some of the characters of the Sudbury Downs harness racing community. Mike Noble, Mario Rivest, and Alan Anderson enabled Ernie to jog horses which led him to buy his own....

Ernie Wehrberger passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 In Sudbury at the age of 86. Ernie was born in Germany and brought his love of horses to Canada. After retiring from
Inco, Ernie had the pleasure of meeting some of the characters of the Sudbury Downs harness racing community. Mike Noble, Mario Rivest, and Alan Anderson enabled Ernie to jog horses which led him to buy his own. In his early 70's, Ernie became a trainer for three of his own Standardbred racehorses. We thank Sudbury downs and the MacIsaac family for allowing an old man to fulfill his dreams. Ernie was the first one to the grandstand to order pictures if his horses won, the first one back to his car to Sudbury if they lost. Those were good times. Ernie is survived by his daughter Carmen of Sudbury, his sister Mitzy (Wilhelm) of Germany, nieces Petra (Andreas) and Anya of Germany, nephew Jonas of Kuwait, and Mike (Cindy) of Florida. Ernie was predeceased by his wife Elsa "Lilo" Wehrberger.
