Eveline Plaunt
July 28, 1947 – April 15, 2026
Eveline Alice Plaunt (née Leblanc) peacefully joined the angels on April 15, 2026, in Sudbury, Ontario, after a lengthy battle with cancer, with family by her side. She was the spouse of Glenn Plaunt (predeceased). With five generations in her immediate family, Eveline is survived by her beloved children, Loma Lynn (Hank), Jacqueline ‘Jackie’, and Angela ‘Angie’ Brewer; seventeen (17) grandchildren; nineteen (19) great-grandchildren; and one (1) great-great-granddaughter. Dear sister of Claudette (Art – predeceased) Buisson, Edward (Aline) Leblanc, Suzanne ‘Sue’ (Don) Garbutt (both predeceased), and Doris (Roy) Bayer. Eveline was born on July 28, 1947, in Sudbury, Ontario, to Moise ‘Moe’ Leblanc and Rita Dupuis (both predeceased). She will be sadly missed by many family members and friends.
Eveline was among the first women hired at INCO, starting as a labourer at Frood-Stobie and retiring in Copper Cliff. She made the most of every moment, maintaining a positive outlook, finding her greatest joy in spending quality time with her family, and in witnessing and celebrating others’ successes and milestones. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards, country music, fishing, and bringing everyone together.
Eveline was not just the heart of our family; she was its compass. She taught us that kindness is never wasted, that hard work is a form of love, and that laughter can be the best medicine. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, whether through a warm meal, a place to stay, a listening ear, or a gentle word at the right moment. Eveline’s spirit and warmth will live on in the way we care for one another. She radiated resilience and grace in her words and actions, a testament to her deep, steady, unconditional love, which will remain with us always.
Extending thanks to the doctors at Health Sciences North for taking Eveline's concerns seriously. Thanks to Dr. Emack for compassion and care, which allowed her to enjoy more than 5 extra years with her family. To the nurses at Sudbury Cancer Treatment Centre, your kindness made tough days easier.
At her request, there will be no funeral or viewing. A burial in Whitefish, Ontario, will be arranged, where family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Northern Cancer Fund https://hsnfoundation.com/donate-ncfund/ would be appreciated.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
