MAINVILLE, Florian - December 5, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Florian Mainville announces his passing on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the age of 79 years with his loving family by his side.
Son of the late Arthur and the late Eva (née Lavigne) Mainville. Loving husband of Jennie Mainville (née Findlay). Loving father of Mark (Connie), Robert (Tammy) and Andrew (Cori). Dear brother of the late Ernestine Bolen (late Nick), late Ernest (late Emilienna), late Roger (late Rita), late Estelle Bélanger (late Roger), late Marcial (late Chrystine), Roma (Cécile), late Noé (late Jeanette), late Clement (Rollande), late Clémentine Farmer (late Guy), late Conrad (Shirley) and late Bruno (Marcelline). Beloved brother-in-law to Ellen Dorion (Ron), Dorothy Smith (Gary), Andy Findley (Lynn). Very proud papa of Kayla Zygmont (Carson), Madison Mainville and Brooklyn Mainville. Proud great-papa to Kesleigh and Ezlyn.
Flo was born and raised in Chelmsford. In 1970, he built his home in Dowling, where he lived with the love of his life, Jennie, for the past 55 years. He worked underground for Falconbridge for more than 30 years as a dedicated jumbo operator.
Flo was incredibly knowledgeable and wise and, if you needed an answer, you could always count on him. His great sense of humour, quick wit and joyful spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Flo was an avid hunter and fisherman who proudly passed those passions—along with his strong work ethic—on to his three boys who were not just his children but his best friends. Years spent at fishing tournaments, hunting, working together on home renovations, and sharing beers in the garage created countless memories they will forever cherish.
Flo was blessed to have three granddaughters who brought endless joy to his life and he cherished each of them more than words can express. They hold amazing memories of the years spent with their Papa and will never forget his big smile and even bigger heart.
Flo was a happy guy—except when he was yelling at the TV when the Leafs were losing—and he brought a sense of calm and joy wherever he went. Known and loved by so many, he will be deeply and dearly missed.
As per Flo's wishes there will be no funeral visitations or services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury and Crystal Crematorium.
