Gaetane Gignac (née Lagrandeur)

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother at the McCulloch Hospice with her family by her side after a lengthy and courageous battle with liver failure and cancer. Loving mother to Mike Gignac (Theresa), Lise Edwards (Rob Fabiilli) and Francine Meandro (Dave). Predeceased by her parents Rhea and Armand Lagrandeur. Sister to Roger Lagrandeur (Celine), Diane Frame (Dale), Suzanne Polsky (Dan) & Ron Penemick. Grandmother to Keisha Villeneuve (Todd) and Terron Edwards, great-grandmother, aka Little Grandma, to Alyssa, Sloane and Kessler who were the source of so much joy and happiness! She will be missed by nieces and nephews, special friends Monica and Richard, extended family, especially Melissa and Chad Weaver who held a special place in her heart! The family would like to thank Dr. Heather Boudreau for her wonderful care over the years, Dr. Robert-Lajeunesse, the wonderful staff at the McCulloch Hospice, mom’s nurse Angie and all that listened and laughed with mom. Mom was a kind, loving soul who would give you the shirt off her back even if she didn’t have another for herself. She worked many years in the service industry and shared many fun stories of the days working at the Algoma Hotel! Mom organized yearly events at her apartment building sharing meals for Christmas and Valentines Day. Gaetanne loved God and her bingo, so we are sure she is already set up with her bingo dabbers and ready to play. Private burial will take place at the Civic Cemetery. A celebration of life took place while mom was well enough to enjoy it. Donations to the McCulloch Hospice or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
