Harrison, Gary Dean 1946-2022
It is with profound sadness and extreme heartbreak that the family announces the passing of a wonderful husband, father, Papa G, brother, neighbour and friend. Gary Dean Harrison passed peacefully on June 9th, surrounded by his loving and supportive family after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Gary was born in Timmins, Ontario on June 28th,1946 to Bill and Estelle Harrison (both predeceased). Gary was a loving husband and best friend to his strong, beautiful wife Jo-Anne of 48 years; renewing their vows on May 20th.. Daddio AKA the biggest of the bosses was most proud of his two wonderful daughters, Jodie (Phil) and Leslie (Phill) and grandfather AKA Papa G. to Riley, Kallista and Avery. Loving brother and best friend to Vicki (Kimberly), Bob and the late Jim (Audrey), son-in-law to Muriel and the late Gerry Dignard. Also, fondly remembered by step grandkids Dylen (Cass), Kylee and Rowyn. “Favorite” Brother-in-law to Pierre (Lilliane), Louise, Michelle (Jim), Francine (Nic), Jackie (Claudio). He will be forever missed by cousins, nephew, nieces, friends and Florida “buddies”.
Gary spent most of his career in the carpet industry owning his own business Mid City Carpets and later joining the House of Broadloom team. Gary’s greatest love was his family, snow birding to their Florida home, family holidays, playing golf, cheering on his Habs, golf cart cruises, euchre games and lively conversation. Gary was a great dog walker to his fur-nieces Lola and Brandy. You could find Gary tending to his perfectly manicured lawn, sipping on a glass of white wine and most importantly spending time by the pool with family watching with pride his grandkids play and grow.
Anyone who knew Gary would appreciate his story telling and great sense of humour; he was able to make connections and leave a mark with everyone he met.
Special thank you to long time doctor, Dr. John Mulloy, Dr. Linford and the nurses of the Northeast Cancer Centre as well as the Bayshore team.
As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
