George Landrie Obituary

George Landrie (1957-2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of George Landrie, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on November 2nd, 2025, at the age of 67.

From Warren, George shared a beautiful life with his loving wife, Francine (Roy), who stood by his side through every season. Together, they raised two daughters, Amy (Jason) and Tracy (Ravi), who were the pride and joy of his life. His heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his cherished granddaughters, Amara and Niya, who brought endless joy and laughter.

George was the beloved son of the late Lillian (Steeves) and Richard Landrie. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Wanda (Jacques), Deborah, Donna (Denis, predeceased), Richard Jr. (Sandy), and Deanna (André), as well as by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A dedicated and hardworking man, George took great pride in his career as a mining contractor, where he spent 45 years travelling and working at sites across Canada. He played an important role in mine safety, specializing in the Alimak raise and underground construction. George’s strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting impression on those he worked with, and the friendships he built along the way remained dear to him throughout his life.

Outside of work, George found peace and happiness in the outdoors — puttering around the yard, tending to the “farm,” fishing, golfing, and most of all, spending time with his family. He also had a love for Nascar, never missing a race and always cheering on his favorite drivers. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved most. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anas Eddin, Dr. Hooman Hennessey, Dr. Monique St-Martin, Dr. Bradley Long, and Dr. Jordan McNeil. They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Andrew Primeau, Dr. Dylan Falk, Dr. Jessica Jackson, Dr. Sara Nykilchyk, the nursing staff at HSN on 8 North (especially charge nurse Deborah), and the compassionate team at Maison McCulloch Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness.

A celebration of life in honour of George will be held in the upstairs hall at the Warren Arena on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice in his honour.   https://maisonsudburyhospice.org/donate/
