Gino Luigi Cacciotti
July 1st, 1931 – April 26th, 2026
With great sadness we announce the passing of Gino Luigi Cacciotti, at age 94, on April 26, 2026.
Gino was the beloved husband of Jeannine (née Beaulieu, predeceased 2001). Cherished father of Nina Senecal, Teresa Cacciotti (predeceased), Marcello Cacciotti (Cathy), and Gino Cacciotti (Natalie).
Loving Nonno to Dean Senecal, Deanna Cacciotti (Sean), Dante Cacciotti (Isabelle) and Darius Cacciotti. Brother to Rosina, (Florimondo, predeceased), Enzo, (Carmella) both predeceased and Giuditta, (Tony, predeceased). Loving Zio to many nieces and nephews.
Gino was born in 1931 in Carpineto, Romano, Italy. He moved to Canada in 1951, where he met and married Jeannine and started a family together and eventually settled in Sudbury.
He was hired by the railroad as were many immigrants at the time and then moved to INCO where he remained until retirement. Gino also started up his own cleaning company, (Cleanol Janitorial Service), along with his regular employment. He used the earnings of that company to allow for family vacations, as well as fuel his greatest passion, soccer.
In the 1960s Gino started/sponsored a team (Cleanol Hawks) in the SCRSL, which began a three-decade long involvement with soccer on municipal, provincial and national levels, along with a few international exhibition game exchanges.
Upon retirement, Gino and his wife became winter snowbirds and spent half the year in Brownsville Texas, with the other half being spent on his Manitoulin Island properties, working away the warm months in his extensive garden, lawns and small livestock pens.
After his wife Jeannine passed away, he moved to Sudbury and started anew, immersing himself in the work of creating a new, but similar environment. While living back in Sudbury he made himself available and gave freely of his time, to his family, friends and neighbors, to help out whenever needed. He was a stand-in dad for some and an inspiration to others.
Gino was known for his unwavering beliefs, hard work ethic, high standards and strong will, all forged as a young boy, educated by life in occupied Italy. To his family, he was a fixture, someone who you thought would always be there. He lived his life by his terms, from being a youngster to his final days.
Special thanks to Dr. Larose, Dr. Long, Dr. Pun, The 8th floor cardiac unit staff and to our very special Celina Mantler.
Rest In Peace Dad.
