Glen Phillips finally found rest and peace on August 28, 2023 at Health Sciences North and his star shone brightly in the night sky that night.
Beloved spouse for 56 years of Marilyn Phillips (Beare). Loving father to his children Andrew and Tara Phillips (Donat). Proud grandfather to Logan & Kiara Larocque (Max). Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Margaret Lillian Phillips, brother Garnet Phillips (Louise) and sister Marie Hanson, son-in-law to James and Elsie Beare. Survived by brother Don Phillips (Evelyn), brother-in-law Cameron Beare (Julie) and sister-in-law Nedine Lair (Mark). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Glen was raised in Waters Township where he met and married his beloved wife Marilyn. He built his own home where together they raised their family in the town of Lively. He began his career as a machinist and was hired by INCO in 1968. He worked and retired from the company working at many of the mine sites including Levack, Creighton, Crean Hill and North Mine.
Woodworking soon after became his passion spoiling friends and family with his projects. He later became a member of the Walden Seniors & Pensioners Workshop. His grandchildren were the world to him. He loved to attend their activities, cheering them on. He was enthusiastic to drive them anywhere they needed to go especially surprising them by showing up with the corvette (the Bat Mobile). And finally proudly riding with them on his John Deere lawnmower and later showing them how to drive it themselves. He enjoyed the past 40 years at his trailer at Stanley Park on Manitoulin Island and could be seen sipping a smooth scotch around the fire with friends and family.
Special thanks to the many doctors and nurses for their kind and compassionate care during his final journey in his life. Thank you to friends who helped in his time of need: Ron, Brian, Rick and Barry and many more. Just too many to mention.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Maison McCulloch Hospice.
