Harvey Gustaf Mantysaari

It is with sorrow that the family announces the passing of Harvey Gustaf Mantysaari Monday, January 27th, 2020 at St Gabriel’s Villa Chelmsford, at the age of 90 years. Son of the late Gustave and the late Ellen (née Hedberg) Mantysaari. Predeceased by his wife Emérance (née Bélanger) Mantysaari in 2000. Loving father of Linda, (Don Larocque), Joyce (Jim Kirkwood), Gary Mantysaari (Louise), Gail Mantysaari (Michael Kajdas) all of Azilda. Cherished pépère to his grandchildren Jamie Lachapelle (Ray), Jana Baldauf (Ehren), Sarah Betancourt (Diego), Dana Jackson (Eric), Trevor and Taylor Kajdas. Sadly missed and always remembered by his great grandchildren Austen, Olivia, Adysen, William, Alayna, Connor, Ethan and Mateo. Dear brother of Larry Puukila (Marlene) and sister Sadie Mantysaari. Predeceased by his brothers Albert (late Alice), Arne (late Jeannine), Alden (late Constance) and by his sisters Laila Kivari (late Martin) and Eila Godin. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Harvey enjoyed his fishing in the summer and especially his ice fishing at the hut on Whitewater Lake. He worked construction as a hoisting operator for different companies for over 35 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793 for over 50 years. The Mantysaari family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff at St Gabriel’s Villa in Chelmsford. A celebration of life will be held, Sunday, March 29th, 2020 from 1 – 5 p.m. at Club Accueil Age D’or Azilda 64 Notre-Dame Street Azilda, ON. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.  Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North Sudbury.
