Tarves, Herbert Frederick (1931-2021) 

The family announces with sorrow his death on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the age of 90 years. He passed peacefully in his sleep at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, Ontario. 

Herbert was the son of John and of Edith. Loving husband of the late Janet (née Bayly). Dear father of Barb (Steve), Bill (Louise), Judy (Kevin) and Edie (Paul). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Doug, Terry, Sarah, Ben, Connor, and Kara as well as great-grandchildren Kirstyn, Tyler, Robyn, Erika, Emma, Ethan, Ava and Jack and great-great grandchildren Joshua, Brylee, Walker and Clayton. 

Herbert is also survived by sister Louise, brother Jim, brother-in-law Peter (Jan) and sister-in-law Kate (Jon). He will be sadly missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Herbert “Rocky” had many interests. He was an avid sports fan and played on many teams in his youth. He especially loved baseball, hockey, football, horse racing and equestrian. Herbert also loved fishing, dancing, singing (what a voice!), reading, writing odes and poetry and sketching. He spent many years announcing at equestrian events. Herbert loved to drive and spent many years behind the wheel as a travelling salesman.

In words sung by the famous crooner Frank Sinatra, Herbert lived his life his way.

Due to pandemic conditions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services in care of Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
