Howard Simpson Obituary

Simpson, William, Howard 1931 - 2023

Howard passed away peacefully at home, on April 22, 2023, shortly after reaching his goal of turning 92 on April 4th. His family was blessed to have all been able to gather to celebrate this last birthday.

Howard was born 04-04-1931 in Wallace Township, Perth County.  The son of Thelma and Walter Simpson.  He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Harold, Marjorie, Violet and Jack.

Howard will be lovingly remembered but not forgotten by his wife of 57 years, Sandra (Graham), his children, Kimberly (Brad Bennett), David (Dana Chapman) and Douglas.  Beloved "Poppa" to his grandchildren, Maddison and Nate. He will also be missed by his extended family, David and Laura Bennett and their children William and Amelia, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

As a Master Mechanic, Howard travelled across Canada working on major construction projects such as the dam in Campbell River and Aubrey Falls, the Imperial Oil and Trans Canada Pipeline, a GM car plant in Oshawa and the first section of Toronto's east-west subway, Bloor to St. James. Howard ended his working career after opening his own business, G&S Equipment, in Sudbury in 1977 which he sold in 1992 when he retired.

Howard met and married Sandra in 1966 when he was in South Porcupine working on the building of the concentrator for Texas Gulf.  Retirement was filled with years of traveling to countries both far and near; spending more time at their trailer on the French River as traveling became more difficult for Howard.

To his family, his friends, his favorite PSW's Beverly and Linda, the staff of the Community Para Medics program, Dr. Jacques and Karen Abourbih and Dr. Sam Peter's, thank you for your care and support!

Howard will be remembered by family and friends for his love of life, his loyalty, his generous and caring spirit, his engaging smile, and his bright, blue eyes.

A Service of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 111 Larch Street, Sudbury, Ontario, on May 6th at 11 A.M., with visitation beginning at 10:30 A.M. prior to the service. The service will be live- streamed on YouTube at 11 A.M.

In memoriam donations can be made to St. Andrew’s United Church, Sudbury, or Sick Kids – The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.

I Am Free

"I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work or play.  Tasks left undone must stay that way.  I've found that place at the close of day."
