Hudson Frederick Elmore
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Hudson Elmore on January 25th , 2026, at the age of 83.
Hudson was the beloved husband of Doris (née McDougall), with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Chad (Kate) and Wade (Jaimee), and a proud and loving grandfather to Taylor, Kellie, Blake, Anna, Hudson, and Trent.
He was the cherished son of Fred and Helen Elmore, and a dear brother to Jane Harris(predeceased by Harold), Bruce Elmore (predeceased), Patsy Skebo (predeceased by Jerry), and Tom Elmore (Edythe), as well as a loving member of his extended McDougall family. Doris and Hudson were grateful for their 50-year friendship with Ken (predeceased) and Marlene Raymond, with whom they shared many adventures.
Born and raised in Haley Station Ontario, Hudson started his career at Dominion Magnesium Mine where he received his Electrical license. Always striving for more, he moved north to work for Falconbridge Mines where he worked for 34 years and retired as Electrical Mechanical Supervisor. He was not only skilled and hardworking but had an admirable dedication to his job that was evident long after retirement. During his career he also volunteered with the Onaping/Levack Ambulance and Mine Rescue.
Hudson met his love and forever partner Doris who he married in the Ottawa Valley before moving to Onaping Falls, where they raised their family in the wonderful community of Dowling. They always made family a priority, never missing a celebration and always showing up to help, treating the 6-hour drive to the Valley as if they were heading next door.
Always the sportsman Hudson enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, golf and snowmobiling. He was a proud pilot, loved flying and being a member of COPA. He also coached boys’ baseball and volunteered as convener for his sons’ hockey teams.
He was eager to help anyone who needed it. His friends and family knew he was only a phone call away to provide advice or a helping hand. He had a vast knowledge of many topics.
Hudson treasured his life at his Camp, where he spent countless hours with family and friends. He especially looked forward to the annual deer hunt, a tradition shared with his father, siblings, sons, grandchildren, and close friends. Hudson was grateful to attend the hunt this past year with three generations of Elmores.
He also had a fond love of lotto tickets, always hopeful and ready to share a smile and plans over a potential win.
Hudson will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, his wonderful story telling and his love of laughter. He will remain in our hearts and live on through the many treasured memories shared with those who loved him.
A celebration of life in Hudson’s honor will be scheduled this summer, with details to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
