James Francis Encil
We are sad to announce that James “Jim” Encil passed away at the age of 70, peacefully on September 2nd, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.
Jim was born in Chapleau, Ontario in 1953 to Elizabeth (Edwards) and Wilbur. Jim grew up with his stepfather Roy Wood and brothers, Alexander Encil, Roy-David Wood, and Wayne Wood.
Jim will be remembered with much love by his children Jennifer (Roan), Laura and James (Sandra). Jim’s grandchildren Taylor, Alyssa, Mathew, Marshall, and Ryan will miss him dearly.
Throughout the years, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends in northern Ontario. Many of his friendships were made through his work at an Auto Recyclers in Val Caron. Later years, he spent many of his summers enjoying the peaceful beauty of Manitoulin Island.
Jim was a widow since 2021. He was married to Cathy (Verbakel) Encil for 15 years. Cathy’s daughter Tabitha Stewart and grandchildren Devon, Bailey, and great grandchild spend many years enjoying family time in Capreol, Ontario.
Many thanks to the staff at the Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron for their special care over the last couple of years.
An intimate celebration of life will be held by the immediate family later in the month.
