James “Goose” Gosselin
It is with a heavy heart, that the family announces the passing of James (Goose) Gosselin in Sudbury, on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at the age of 73. Surrounded by his family, Jim passed away peacefully at the Maison McCulloch Hospice.
Son of the late Leonard and Margaret Gosselin. Loving brother of Michael, Richard (Johanne), Gary (Janice predeceased), Terry, Scott (predeceased), Robin (Debbie) June, and Bernie (predeceased) and lovingly remembered as the favourite Uncle Jimmy to many nieces and nephews.
He is forever remembered by his loving wife of 45 years Elaine (nee Lunek), and his 3 daughters Amber (Ken Hyatt), April (Shawn Patterson) and Leah (Patrick Hopkin).
Jim was a very proud Papa and nothing brought Jim more joy than spending time with his 7 grandchildren Amelia (Baboo), Myles (Bubby), Sawyer, Collins, Nora, Ellis and Lyla. They were his entire world. He loved them wholeheartedly, and filled his days with visiting them, often bringing them treats! He also found great joy in watching their activities, hockey and ringette games.
Anyone who knew Jim knew he had a unique sense of humour and incredible wit. He lit up any room he entered with his big personality. He was a very kind, selfless person with a big heart and a real softy when it came to kids.
Jim was born in Coniston but raised in Hanmer. At the young age of 18, began working for INCO where he continued for 34 years. In the later years, he became interested in having a more active role with his union the United Steelworkers Local 6500. He believed in standing up for the rights of his friends and coworkers and did so with a great deal of integrity. Years later, his big heart led him to take on the role of school bus driver. He was so fortunate to provide transportation for children with special needs and looked forward to every bus run.
Jim lived a life surrounded by the love of his family. Family was everything to him and he always put his first. His passing leaves a big hole in our hearts and in our lives, but he will continue to be remembered for the wonderful memories and legacy he leaves behind.
The family would like to extend love and gratitude to Jim’s Bayshore nurse Tara, and all the incredible staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice, specifically Mel, Julie, Joel and Tammy. Donations can be made in Jim’s honour to the Maison McCulloch Hospice, or the Edgar Burton Food Drive.
Celebration of Life for James Gosselin will be held Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at the Colonial Inn, 28 Cedar St., Coniston, Ontario from 1pm to 4pm. The Cedar street entrance is available for those with mobility issues.
