James “Jim” Richard (1958 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our father Jim Richard, who passed December 8th, 2025. Originally from Elliot Lake, Ontario, Jim’s work in Northern Ontario’s mining industry led him to Deltion Innovations Ltd, where the team developed new space mining techniques and technologies. This work brought Jim all over the world, working with partners like the Canadian Space Agency and NASA.
Jim will be remembered for his road trip sing-a-longs, being the most enthusiastic fan at his daughters’ concerts and out of town volleyball tournaments (whether he knew the rules or not), and as a world traveler who made friends wherever he went. His love of nature, and adventurous spirit took him SCUBA diving on the world’s most beautiful reefs and cave systems, paddling across Ontario and white water canoeing.
We will always be grateful for the lessons he passed down to us, and the adventures we had as a family growing up. Jim is survived by his daughters Raven Richard-Bordeau (Carrie) and Erica Richard, sister Janine Stokes-McNab (Randy) and brother Don Richard (Debbie).
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, the family will not be holding a service.
