Kathy WHISSELL Obituary
KATHY MARY WHISSELL (SIKATOWSKY, poured every bit of herself into the lives of those lucky enough to know her. Kathy passed away in Florida, with her husband Gary Whissell by her side.
Kathy was born in Sudbury on September 23, 1959. She was one of 9 children and later became a devoted mother to four children, whom she raised with her beloved husband Gary.
Kathy was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Leaving behind her beloved husband of 47 years, Gary Stinson Whissell and her four children she was most proud of, Chris (Michelle) in Sudbury, Gavin (Mercedes) in Boston, Justin (Helen) in Terrace and Jessica (Timothy) in Toronto. Kathy predeceased her eight siblings Jerry, Diane (Denis), Danny (Carmen), Joyann (Wayne), Jim, Cindy (Greg), Patsy (Dwain), Rob (Debbie) and by her grandchildren Nina, Logan, Mya, Mackenzie, Graydon, Charlotte and Levi. Kathy was the daughter to Kathleen Sikatowsky (predeceased 2017) and Jerry Sikatowsky (predeceased 2015).
From the very beginning, Kathy had a heart that knew no limits. While raising four children, she still found endless amounts of energy and love to give, not only to her family, but to anyone who needed a hand, a hug, or a safe place to land. Her home and her heart were always open. Even while raising her own children, Kathy dedicated herself to caring for children with disabilities, offering them the same warmth, patience, and unwavering love. Kathy made everyone feel like family, and gave herself fully, without hesitation or expectation. Whether she was playing cards, chasing new adventures, or simply enjoying time with her loved ones, she brought warmth and laughter to everyone around her. With her boundless energy and playful spirit, she brought endless joy to her grandchildren, who cherished the laughter and love she shared so freely. She was thoughtful and considerate in all aspects of daily life. Kathy approached even the most routine tasks without complaint.
Kathy and Gary shared a deep, unconditional love for each other. Kathy’s sudden and untimely passing has left an immeasurable void. Kathy was a strong, principled woman—opinionated, yes, but always guided by a deep sense of ethics and morality.
Kathy was the love of Gary’s life, and her children will carry forward her beautiful example in their own lives.
