It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Kenneth Albert Groleau, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
So much of who Ken was lives in the little things: his bad “Dad jokes,” his constant reminders to wear our winter coats, borrowing his iPad, the gentle pokes from his “tickle finger,” dinners at the “Purple Turkey,” and treats for every neighbourhood dog. We will miss his faithful presence at every hockey game, his endless stories and hockey talks, our Sunday morning breakfasts together, our regular FaceTime visits that always ended with smiles and “I love yous,” and the hours he spent finding just the right fishing spot for his grandchildren. These moments and so many more are treasures we will carry with us always.
Ken leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, LouAnn; his son, Adam (dear Lindsey); his daughter, Heather (Markus); and his stepchildren, Curtis (Laura) and Jodi (Kyle). He was the proudest Grandpa to his six grandchildren— who truly made his world: Nemiah, Gabriel, Ezra, Selah, Adalyn, and Damon. He is also lovingly remembered by his loyal companion, Echo.
He will be deeply missed by his sister, Diane (Paul); his sister-in-law, Ellie (predeceased by his brother, Mike); his nieces, Katie (Brandon) and Jessie (Mike); his nephews, Shaun (Marilyn) and Ryan (Molly); and his grand-nieces and grandnephews, Charlie, Alessandra, Brock, Sophia, Sierra, Stefan, Leona, and Milo.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, we will remember and honour him this summer at his favourite place—the cottage/camp on Trout Lake surrounded by family, laughter, and the memories he gave us.
We are so grateful for the love, kindness, and support we have received during this time.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
