Kenneth Lloyd Jones
(January 20, 1953 – May 25, 2026)
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kenneth Lloyd Jones, a man known for his fierce determination, his stubborn streak, and a heart far bigger than the world ever deserved. Ken fought right to the very end, refusing to let his body make the final decision before he was ready.
Born in Newfoundland, Ken left home at just 19 and made his way to Sudbury, where he built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love. He spent more than 30 years as a welder at INCO — a trade he mastered with exceptional skill and deep pride. Welding was his passion, though his second great love was blueberry picking
Ken loved the outdoors. Fishing and hunting brought him joy and peace. He rarely came home empty‑handed but if he did there was always a funny story to support his misfortune
His heart was enormous, sometimes to a fault. He forgave easily, forgot quickly, and gave more than he ever asked for. Even when his health began to fail, he found ways to enjoy life. His quirky, often unintentionally inappropriate remarks kept everyone laughing, and his Newfoundland dialect added new words to our vocabulary. Game nights were unforgettable — especially when he forgot the rules every single time, yet somehow insisted they didn’t apply to him.
Ken was the man you called for anything: a broken car part, a bike that needed fixing, a ride across town. He always showed up. His repairs were… creative — functional in a “Newfoundland way,” even if they weren’t always pretty. But he tried, every time, and that mattered more than perfection. In his own words “it’s good enough!”
Everyone who met him loved him. Even the nurses, after only a short time, saw the humor, sweetness, and spark that made him who he was. “He’s adorable, even when he swears,” they said — and they were right.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Cyril and Gladys Jones, his sisters Isabelle England (Bryce) and Jean Pond (Norm). He is survived by his last remaining sibling, Ross Jones (Jean).
He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Nicole (nee Vallee) Jones. his children Glenda, Kevin, Josee (Alain) and Joel. His Grandchildren Samara (Daxton) Taylor (Alana), Megan (Kaelan) Madisen, Tianah, Josh, Parker Lily, Alexis (Justin), great Grandchildren Jace and Skye. He will also be remembered by his extended family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
His legacy is one of grit, generosity, laughter, and love — the kind that stays with you long after the room grows quiet.
A special thank you to the staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice and at 4N HSN.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, (to be determined), to allow out of town friends and family to be present!
In his memory, donations can be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice.
Cremation services are provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.
