The Pedersen clan said goodbye to our matriarch Kirsten, August 16, 2023. After suffering a major stroke, we were blessed to cherish a couple of days with her at Sunnybrook Hospital.
She overcame her inability to speak for a moment to say “I love you” to each member of her family as they said goodbye. It was one of the most beautiful moments we have ever witness and a gift from her to her family.
Kirsten passed peacefully with her sons at her side. Her many siblings and family are welcoming her to Valhalla.
Immigrating to Canada with her husband Knud (predeceased), she often said “I was born Danish, I chose to be Canadian”. A talented seamstress, and long-time sales lady, she will be remembered by many in Sudbury for helping them choose beautiful outfits.
Fiercely independent, Kirsten continued to live on her own and was very proud to continue driving at a young 87 years of age.
She is survived by her much loved sons Jim and Steve (spouses Lori and Marnie) 6 beautiful grandchildren, Alex (spouse Shelby), Cameron, Julie, Cassandra, Jaimee, William and Great granddaughter Noelle.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
We would like to thank the caring staff at Sunnybrook Hospital Stroke Team and caring Palliative care Team. CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors) of Aurora for all of the care and help over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers, we welcome donations to CHATS
