Lane, Lauren David (1931 – 2025)
It is with great sadness that the family of Lauren David Lane (Dad, Gramps, Great Gramps, Candy man and Santa) announces his peaceful passing, Friday August 1, 2025, at the tender age of 94 years, meeting his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Son of the late Charles Lane and of the late Myrtle Lane (née Lord). Predeceased by his loving and adored wife Patricia (née Thompson). Cherished dad of Tim, Laurie (Jim), Geoff (Susan) and Steven (predeceased). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Courtney (Ian), Candice (Ryan), Ashley, Travis (Lauren), Brandan (Michelle), Emily (Lloyd), Matt (Sarah) and Shelby as well as by his great grandchildren Madison, Malachi, Adelie, Eleanor, Olea and William. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Malone, New York. Lauren and Pat fostered 17 children and adopted 1 child over the years providing them with a safe and loving home. Predeceased by 10 brothers and 5 sisters.
Lauren is well loved by his family, friends and the community. One of his greatest joys was being Santa and handing out candy canes on the streets of Massey, nursing homes and even Greyhound buses. When “Santa” retired, he continued to be known as the candy man at Queensway Place and York Extendicare.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Lighthouse, 114 Tudhope Street, Espanola. A light lunch will be provided.
