Laurent Lefrancois

In loving memory of Laurent (Larry) Lefrancois who left us “far too soon and too fast” on June 29th 2026.  He was surrounded by family and friends - as well as love near and far from many “families of loved ones”.  He was a deeply respected and passionate driller, who “mentored and inspired the young lads”.  He loved being a volunteer firefighter, was an endeared Legion bartender, and remains a devoted Leafs fan.  He was known for his sense of humor, love of comedies - and of course - his stubbornness.  Yet, he lived life with a happy-go-lucky attitude, a quietly deep consideration for others and doing consistent acts of kindness without expectation.  He worked hard, enjoyed fun adventures, watching movies, drinking beer and was always there for those in need.  He loved singing while driving in his car and golf tournaments.  He was an exceptional man…a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, and honorary member of each of the families he became a part of along the way.  He and his treasured memories will live through every loved one he left behind.  In sharing our stories, may Larry’s youthful spirit live amongst us in our daily lives.

A loving and caring son who will be dearly missed and is survived by his mother Leona Thompson, and greeted in heaven by his father Edmond Lefrancois (pre-deceased). He will be so missed and always remembered as the best little brother of Kathy Cole (Gilles), Terry Lefrancois (Stanley) and Edmond Junior Lefrancois (Marielle) who he had many adventures with.

He will be lovingly remembered by his many nephews:  Adam Cole (Shawna) children Ty & Avery, Danny Cole (Marie), Thomas Heitz (Crystal), Brian Lefrancois (Karina), Greg Jonas (Mireille) daughter Mia.  Pierre Tousignant (Janie) children Elie & Mia, Michael Soloman (Liette) children: Ethan, Hunter, Mesha & Michael Ray, Christopher Soloman (Darquise), Alexander Soloman (Carolyn) son Caleb and Marc Cardinal.

All his nephews had special and fond memories with their uncle.  He often spoke of them with great affection and the great memories that were made at all of the family get togethers especially on Christmas Eve.  Larry cherished these Christmas Eve get-togethers with his family, from the warmth and laughter and also to the wonderful leftovers he happily took home afterwards, especially Gilles famous ham.  He always knew Kathy would send him off with meat and chicken pot pies to go along with it.  He also loved Terry’s cabbage rolls and Junior’s upside-down cake.

His oldest nephew Adam held a special place in his heart as he lived with him for a time.  Adam will always remember the great many times that they shared.  Adam’s children were especially cherished as Ty was Larry’s first great-nephew, and Avery was his first great-niece, as well as the first girl born in the family.  Larry also took great joy in listening to his nephew Danny play guitar and would sing along.

He is treasured and missed daily by his Noremac family, Nick and Tim Gervais, Donna Desjardins, Dylan Fraser, Steve Clermont, Kent Moultin, Jordan Behm, Laila Moore, Wyatt and Jake Keller.  His absence is also deeply felt by Andrew Lutyk, Melissa Remmerswaal, Natasha Brayley, Allison Grooms, Laura Newman, Deborah Whalen and Carrie Middaugh Duhamel, who cherish the memories they shared together over many years.

He is survived by his mutual anchor of safe harbor, Dorothy Lynn Olfert (Steph) and his deeply cherished son Hunter Sky Olfert-Lefrancois. He is adored and held in high regard for his kindheartedness by his in-laws, Deborah Gray (Brian “Buzzy” pre-deceased), Chris Spencer, Wendy (Craig) Wafer and Colin (Kelley) Gray. Loved with much laughter by his nieces Madison and Chelsea (pre-deceased) Helpert, who knew him as “Uncle Buck”.  Also loved dearly by Judy, Jenny, Duncan and Kim Bronicehski, Norma Lacelle, Kimberly Burns (pre-deceased), Joe Bronicheski and Tina Belina (predeceased).

Larry was family to many others not mentioned, as there are far too many to name.  But, please join us in a celebration of Larry’s life on Saturday August 15th 2026 at  Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 Sudbury 1553 Weller St, Sudbury, ON P3B 1K9 Starting at 1 p.m.

We thought of you today

We thought of you yesterday

And will tomorrow too

We think of you in silence

And make no outward show

For what it meant to lose you

Only those who love you know

Remembering you is easy

We do it everyday
