Leonard (Len/Lenny/Frisco) Blake (82)
In loving memory of Len Blake who passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at Health Sciences North. Born February 6, 1943, to the late Leonard and Irene Blake of Sudbury, he was the sibling of 8 brothers and sisters.
Loving husband of 54 years to Linda Blake. Dearest father of Sandy (Bradie), and Bev (Ryan). He was the proudest Papa to Josh (Brielle), often braving all weather conditions to cheer him on as his biggest fan.
Len will be missed by many friends and family. He knew everyone. It did not matter where you were, he would stop and talk to someone he knew or didn’t.
His biggest passion was raising and racing sled dogs. At one point there was over 200 dogs in his backyard. He was top of the leader board for many years, with his biggest accomplishments racing and winning in Alaska. He loved his racing family and would always share that part of his life through storytelling. After retiring, he spent 20+ years working at Discount Golf, a job he loved.
In his spare time, you could find him walking his dogs, golfing with Gerry, hanging out with Gord or fishing with Josh and Gramma.
We would like to send a huge shoutout to the staff of 6 South for making Len’s last days as comfortable as possible. Many thanks to the staff at Extendicare York, especially those on the fifth floor for taking such great care of Len for the past five years. Your compassion for Len did not go unnoticed.
In memory of Len, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
