Dyer, Marilyn “Linda” (née Shand) 1943-2022
The family announces with sorrow her death on Saturday, March 19, 2022, after a year long courageous battle with cancer. Linda passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Montreal, Québec on March 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ronald W. and the late Margaret Jean (née Cook) Shand. She is predeceased by her husband Robert “Bob” Dyer. Loving mother of Rob (Lisa Bélanger), and Alana (Claude Lavigne). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Rylee and Terri-Anne Dempsey, Owen and Emma Dyer. Survived by her siblings Susan (Michael) Clarke, Stephen (Jeffrene) Shand, and Bruce (Kathryn) Shand. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends in the United States, Barbados, Australia, and Canada.
Linda studied nursing at Montreal General Hospital and graduated in 1964. When she moved to Sudbury she worked as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital, eventually retiring from Laurentian Hospital. The family would like to thank Dr. R. Jacques, Dr. P. Cano, Fran McMillan, Bayshore, Home Instead, and the community Hospice Palliative Care Team for their support to allow Linda to spend her final days at home surrounded by family and friends. At Linda’s request there will be no funeral visitation or service. Memorial donation can be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice. Services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
