After living life for 86 wonderful years, Mansel has passed on Thursday, February 13th, 2025. With thirty-six and a half years in the educational field working for the Sudbury Catholic School Board, he had the opportunity to impact the lives of many students and staff in the various schools where he taught and / or was Principal. Those being, St. Raphael, St. Thomas, St. John, St. Francis, and St. Charles in Chelmsford where he retired from in 1995.
He was the son of Carlo Chezzi (pre-deceased) and Sylvia Chezzi (nee Anttila) (pre-deceased) and sister Monica Robinson of Alberta (Robert pre-deceased)
Loving father of David (Kerry-Lynn) of Sudbury, Daryl of Owen Sound, and Darren (Carolyn) of Mission, British Columbia. Loving grandfather of Connor Chezzi (fiancée Brooklyn Olive), Carlee Chezzi (Sam Levac) of Sudbury, Jack and Ferguson Chezzi of Mission, British Columbia.
Mansel was married to Donna Bowes for 30 years and then found partnership with Claudette Molyneaux in his later years.
Mansel’s pleasures included travelling, cruises, dancing at the Caruso Club [Golden Age Club] and the Coniston Seniors’ Club, trips to casinos and enjoyed crafting and spending time with friends and family.
Mansel’s devotion to his Roman Catholic faith gave him strength and peace as a member of St. Andrew the Apostle parish in Sudbury where he was a lector and an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. In this role he spent 35 years weekly at Extendicare Falconbridge distributing Communion where he made friends with residents and staff alike. This coincidentally, is where he became a resident himself and called home for the last year of his life.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all staff who made his days both comfortable and peaceful.
The family welcomes you to join his funeral mass at 11 am and gathering thereafter from 12 noon to 3 pm at St. Andrew the Apostle Church 1250 Barrydowne Road on Saturday, March 8th/2025 .
Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury and Crystal Crematorium.
