It is with great sadness, the family of Elizabeth (Mary) Benson announces her passing on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 after a long and extremely brave battle with cancer and kidney disease.

Daughter of Bill and Janet Kennedy (both pre-deceased). Survived by her daughter Heather Janzen (Dave), grandchildren Samantha and Jonah Janzen, sister Janet Komarechka (Harold), brothers Hugh Kennedy (pre-deceased), Bill Kennedy (Carol) (both pre-deceased) and her loving nieces and nephews, Kim Kmit (Jim), Danny Komarechka (pre-deceased), Scott Kennedy (Jenith), Sean Kennedy, Shannon Krah (Peter), cousins and great nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her furry friend Bella.

Liz faced her long battle with dignity and strength and never complained, fighting until her very last breath.  She would not let her illnesses stop her from euchre nights at the Legion and Twin Forks, game nights with the gang at Tamarack Co-Op and regular Saturday card nights with her friends Georgette, Mary, Pat, and Crystal.  Liz will also be missed by her bingo buddy Elsie, her lifelong friend Valerie and long-time friend Elaine, who always made sure to check to see if she was okay.

A huge thank you to Dr. Thakrar, Dr. Brule and Dr. Nistico and staff in the Nephrology Unit of Health Sciences North, particularly her buddy Ron, and the staff at the Northeast Cancer Centre.  Special thanks also to Sherry Kmit for her guidance during the last year or so, and to the Staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
