Maura McKinley
January 05, 1947 - October 22, 2020
On Thursday, October 22nd, our noble mom Maura McKinley, bid the world farewell for now, and for the rest of our days, we will mourn her absence. Maura was gracious. If she were here, she'd tell you that her children are incredible and that you look beautiful today. And if you ever visited her at home, you likely walked away with something of hers that you admired in passing.
Maura was lionhearted. She moved mountains for the people she loved and she faced the many challenges in her life head-on with the fiery spirit of an Irish woman.
Maura was compassionate. Within minutes of meeting her, she knew your likes, your dislikes, what you had for breakfast, and eventually, your life story. You knew that her interest in your well-being was the real deal. It was this compassion and kindness that led her to a meaningful career at Pinegate where she helped people struggling with addiction, and made a difference in so many lives.
Our Mom was also so much more. She was a classy lady. She was charming and smart and funny. She taught us to be curious and smart-alecky. She liked detective novels. She wrote sad poems. She cried a bathtub full of tears. She laughed loudly and often. She hugged like a bear, and her home was always comfy and smelled so good.
Maura is unforgettable. She made the world a better place for all of us. We love you deeply Mom. You have given us beautiful memories, and we will honor your legacy of kindness for all time.
Maura will be reunited in peace with her parents Vincent and Monica, her brother Kevin and with her beloved daughter Monica. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her surviving children, Bernadette (Charles), Melinda (Denis), Matthew (Catherine), and McKinley (Bonnie); her siblings, Tony (Eunice), Chris, and Kathy, and her closest friend Kerri.
She will be missed by her grandchildren, Katy, Josh, Abby, Nola, Miller, Lilly, Jack, Rosa, Bea, and Gizmo.
A public memorial to honour Maura's life will be planned at a later date when it is safe to gather and hug one another. Until then, you are invited to join our Facebook memorial group and share your regard for, and your stories about Maura at; https://www.facebook.com/groups/mauramckinleymemorial
